The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is quite an eerie story.
Set in the middle of nowhere during a bad snow storm, nothing good ever happens with these types of stories.
Some of the characters were really horrible in what lengths they’d go to keep certain parts of their lives secret.
It has parts about getting revenge, which I think most people have felt in their life at some point I’m sure.
At first when I started reading it, I thought it was going to remind me more of The Shining but once I finished it, it had more of a Hostel like vibe to it in my opinion.

I give it five stars.
I can’t wait to read more from Sarah Pearse in the future.

Goodreads review

The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m going to start off by saying that I really didn’t know if I was going to like this book after I read a few pages of it. There are some parts in it here and there that I’m not too crazy over. First off, I don’t care for hunting or drinking, which is what some of the characters do. I know it’s part of the story but they just aren’t any interests of mine. Aside from that, The Only Good Indians turned out to be better than I expected. I don’t know if I’d go as far as calling it one of my favorites but it’s still a good read.
